MELAMAR PEKERJAAN MELALUI SUREL

Belakangan ini, saya menerima banyak sekali surat lamaran melalui surel untuk menjadi pengajar BIPA di sekolah saya. Walaupun senang, banyak juga surat lamaran yang dikirim asal-asalan. Hal ini membuat saya bertanya-tanya, apakah susah untuk membuat surat lamaran yang baik? Jadi terpikirkan untuk menulis tentang etika menulis surat lamaran yang dikirim melalui email. Silakan disimak!



MELAMAR PEKERJAAN MELALUI SUREL

Melamar pekerjaan lewat surel (email) itu ada etikanya loh. Tidak cuma main kirim surat dan lampiran saja. Perlu diingat bahwa lamaran yang kamu kirimkan akan menjadi kesan pertama bagi mereka yang akan merekrut. Kalau kesan pertama saja sudah tidak oke, bagaimana lamaran kamu akan masuk pertimbangan?

Berikut etika yang perlu diaplikasikan saat mengirim surat lamaran melalui surel.

1. Sebelum melamar pekerjaan, DISARANKAN untuk mencari informasi sebanyak-banyaknya mengenai perusahaan/institusi yang merekrut. Ini bisa kamu lakukan dengan membuka laman (website) perusahaan di internet. Jangan sampai kamu menjadi kucing di dalam karung dan saat dipanggil untuk wawancara, kamu tidak tahu apa-apa tentang perusahaan yang ingin merekrutmu.

2. TULIS surat lamaranmu di badan surel (email body), jangan dilampirkan di lampiran (attachment). Melampirkan surat lamaran dianggap kurang sopan dan kamu dianggap malas untuk mengetik. Menulis surat lamaran di badan surel juga memudahkan perekrut untuk memahami maksud suratmu tanpa harus mengunduh (download) data. Jadi jangan lupa untuk mencantumkan posisi yang kamu inginkan dan kapan kamu bisa mulai siap bekerja.

3. Isi surelmu adalah: surat lamaran, CV, lampiran foto diri terbaru, sertifikat/ijazah apabila diminta.

4. PENTING! Gunakan bahasa Indonesia yang baik dan sopan. Tidak perlu menggunakan bahasa gaul dan emoticon untuk memberikan kesan akrab.

5. JANGAN BERBOHONG di surat lamaranmu! Hanya karena kamu bisa mengubah ukuran foto di Photoshop bukan berarti kamu boleh menulis bahwa kamu jago Photoshop. Hanya karena kamu tahu cara mengatakan “Aku cinta kamu” dalam 50 bahasa bukan berarti kamu seorang polyglot yang fasih di multi-bahasa. Rendah diri lebih baik dari pada menjadi “tong kosong nyaring bunyinya”!

6. Gunakan jenis huruf (font) yang standar dalam mengetik, seperti Arial atau Times New Roman dengan ukuran standar (12).

7. Periksa ulang surat lamaranmu. Periksa tanda baca, huruf kapital, spasi dan penggunaan kata. Apabila kamu menggunakan istilah asing, tulis dengan huruf miring. Ini akan menjadi penilaian awal bagi perusahaan yang merekrut kamu. Kalau kamu melamar sebagai pengajar BIPA, jangan menulis surat dengan gaya bahasa SMS!

8. PENTING! Kadang-kadang kita mengirim lamaran ke banyak tempat sekaligus, periksa kembali apakah nama perusahaan sudah benar dan alamat surel tidak tertukar.

9. JANGAN melampirkan data dengan ukuran besar. Tidak ada orang yang mau menghabiskan waktu untuk mengunduh lampiranmu, apalagi dengan koneksi internet yang biasanya pelan. Usahakan untuk melampirkan data yang besarnya di bawah 2MB. Perkecil ukuran foto, hasil pindaian (scanned file) KTP, ijazah, sertifikat, dll. Data dengan resolusi 72 dpi sudah cukup jelas untuk tampilan layar komputer.

10. Lampirkan foto diri yang profesional; tampilan maksimal setengah badan, menghadap ke depan, rambut rapi dengan busana yang sopan. Tidak perlu melampirkan foto unyu yang diambil dari telepon genggam dengan ekspresi monyong agar terlihat cantik dan lebih kurus!

11. Gunakan alamat surel pribadimu, jangan gunakan alamat surel perusahaan yang masih mempekerjakan kamu atau alamat surel teman.

12. Gunakan nama asli bukan alias dan nama G4UL. Ini akan membingungkan perekrut.

13. Tulislah CV yang lengkap, disertai alamat, nomor telepon, riwayat hidup dan pengalaman kerja/berorganisasi.

14. Tulis pengalaman yang penting saja. Tidak perlu menulis riwayat pendidikan dari balita! Jangan sampai panjang CV-mu mencapai 3 halaman A4!

15. Ingat, yang akan kamu kirimkan adalah surat lamaran pekerjaan, bukan surat curhat! Jadi hindari bercerita terlalu banyak mengenai hal-hal yang tidak berhubungan dengan posisi pekerjaan yang kamu lamar. Kalau kamu melamar ke perusahaan iklan, tidak perlu bercerita tentang betapa hebatnya kemampuan memasakmu!
